In honor of this auspicious day (Tome's first birthday), I decided to tip my hat to the Motherland, or rather, Pops' Motherland, Jamaica. In 1964, Millie Small scored Jamaica's first international hit with "My Boy Lollipop," paving the way for that island nation's great musical traditions to spread across the globe for decades to come and such Jamaican luminaries as Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Burning Spear, Sean Paul, and who can forget (no matter how hard we try) Ini Kamoze!
