Say It Ain't So, Ben

Well, it looks like Big Ben is being accused of pulling a Kobe, in sexually assaulting a hotel employee. According to reports, back in July of last year, Roethlisberger asked the woman to come to his room to fix his TV and later sexually assaulted her. There was no criminal complaint nor investigation. This is a civil lawsuit. I will definitely be withholding judgment (too many women who've accused celebrities in the past have been crucified by jackholes like yours truly), but, as Mrs. Unknown wrote to me, "Shouldn't it be a rule in the players employee handbook not to have sex with hotel employees?"

I'm automatically suspicious when they go the civil right and not the criminal route. It appears motivated by financial gain. But the real story is that the media did not jump all over it like they did the Kobe story. Seems to be a double standard.

Well Max, Kobe's was a criminal case. Also, Ben isn't as big a celebrity as your boy is either (I may be wrong, but I seem to remember Ruben Patterson's being sentenced for forcing his nanny to perform fellatio on him got any pub for years). But I betcha if this woman had gone directly to the police last year, when it happened, we would've had a similar circus. But who knows?

Oh yeah, and Kobe was married. Did you ever see that SNL when Maya Rudolph, playing his wife said, "And I didn't think I'd be sitting here at my husband's rape trial"?

More to the point, the media isn't jumping all over this because they are too busy getting on Michael Vick for going to a strip club - which is legal not to mention the guy was in jail, let him see some bubbies..... and because they are jumping all over Labron for smoking pot in high school - uh, duh? Glad I don't live in a glass house! Hmmmm... now that stings more of double standard to me?
